Hollow Metal Doors are made of channel reinforced steel sheets and filled with insulation materials such as polystyrene, kraft honeycomb, or polyurethane. Standard hollow metal doors are 1-3/4″ thick and are prime coat painted. The gray primer finish is suitable for painting. These doors are shown to have superior performance for strength and durability compared to the alternate materials and are more sanitary, much easier to maintain, and can withstand more abuse than wood or aluminum doors. A result of the strength and durability of steel is that metal doors have the lowest total cost of ownership of any other materials.
American Openings offers a variety of shapes and styles ranging in width and heights between 80 inches and 96 inches. These doors can also be customized with glass (including firelite) as well as a fire rating of 180-minutes to meet the needs of virtually any project specification.
